All things 1950s :)

1950s feminine & rockabilly styles...I can't help but love all that! And I know a couple of friends of mine who love this era, so this blog is dedicated to their lovely selves! :)
Full skirts & pencil skirts means that there's something to suit everyone, and the continuous evolution of fabrics means that there's something to suit YOUR personality!

Now, there is one brand in particular that I have to mention due to my friends' love for it! 'Vivien of Holloway!' Known for their absolutely beautiful dresses, Vivien has pretty & glamourous styles right through to the funky rockabilly style...so take your pick! Here are some images of their amazing talent...

http://vivienofholloway.blogspot.com/

Visit their blog on the link above.

I can't decide what I like best?! The pretty girlie style of the full dress, floral prints and true vintage style or the sharp, strong woman look of the rockabilly pencil skirt?! So I'm not going to decide! I mean think about it...when you wake up, you never know which alter ego is going to come out that day when you go to get dressed, so why not have both of these in your wardobe in preparation & go with the flow of the day...how you dress should be natural to you at the end of the day.......be yourself! Whoever it is!

If you fancy just a small piece of 1950s style, then get your hands on this cute little make up mirror - it could make a great gift too?!

For £6.99 this gorgeous little thing can bring some glam back into your makeup bag!

Grab it now from...

I hope this has inspired you to give the 1950s style a go! It's all so cute, how can you resist?!

So, who fancies a lovely little fashion find?!

Get Cutie!....Spotted this unique brand via an advert they had in the back of Elle magazine (Issue May 2010) as I cut out random images to create a collage to go into a photoframe for part of my friend's birthday pressie! :)

The advert is literally made up of 4 simple images of clothing items from Get Cutie. Such simple images because the clothing speaks for itself & is what caught my beady little eyes!

Lushness!

Hi everyone!!! Hope you're all well!

Oh myyy I have been SO slack with this blog...thanks to my load of uni work to get done for next Friday...eeek! If you are a student I am sure you will have sympathy with me!

Well it's only two weeks left at uni now, EVER!! What a scary thought! But on the other hand it'll mean I'll have lots of time to share some lovely things with you guys :) YAY!

Today I want to tell you about a beauty product from the lovely caring store 'Lush' :)

I decided to treat myself to a little product from their store and walked out with a 'breath of fresh air'......yes...'breath of fresh air', one of their toners!

I got the 100ml sized bottle which cost me about £3.50. You can use it like a spray to cool you down, or spray some onto a cotton pad and wipe around your beautiful face. When I first tried it, I decided to spray it straight onto my face, it came out a lot more 'forceful' than I was expecting, however, it really refreshed my face and has a lovely subtle scent, it was truely... well... erm... LUSH! I definately recommend it. It helps with the redness on your face too as it has some brilliant ingredients such as aloe vera, rosemary & rose absolute.

I have found myself addicted to looking at all their products on their website at the moment (whilst I'm supposed to be working!)...so much so that I think i may try to take a trip back there today to get something else! I'll let you guys know all about the next product I buy too :) don't you worry!..

If you read this post...let me know what you're favourite Lush products are! Or what you think I should try and do a review on, and I'll try my best to purchase that item and tell you what I think of it :)

Something for the cool kids...

Something a little bit different to the norm...

Something funky...

Something 'out there'...

...do these statements appeal to you?! Then you should check out TERRATAG!

TERRATAG are a fashion brand company that I have come across thanks to the 'rave scene' I am a part of. They take their style influences from oriental art, mixed with street art, graffiti, manga...you get the idea! And the final pieces are truely different.

TERRATAG collaborate with various artists to come up with new lines all the time!

One of their newest lines is their collaboration with No1 Hardcore MC, MC Whizzkid...

With a graffiti style with bright colours, this tee certainly does stand out!

I love how the little man running on the t-shirt is a little cartoonised MC Whizzkid, fully kitted out with hat on and mic in hand!

Below is my favourite girls' TERRATAG t-shirt...

What a beautiful yet funky t-shirt! Love it!

Check out all of the TERRATAG lines here: http://www.terratag.com/index.html

Music & Fashion......what a great combination!

Denim & Waiting for the Sunshine...

If you're anything like me....you long for those lazy summer days where you can pull on that lovely summer dress and run out into the sunshine :)

As you may well know, denim is everywhere at the moment, so I decided to treat myself to a little piece of it, and this was the outcome...

It's such a cutie! The dress is from Primark and comes in at only £9! I teamed it up with a lovely coral/orange boyfriend cardigan, also from Primark which retails at £6, that's the cheapest price I have seen for a cardi like this, so I had to have it!

The pocket detail on the dress sealed the deal for me...

It's so cute, the shape is soft and the bow adds a girlie touch, love it!

The wooden necklace adds a surf chick beach style to the outfit and is available to buy from Superdrug for £4.99

Girlie summer chic! Love it!

All these items were purchased yesturday, so grab them now before they go!..

My 21st Birthday Night Out Dress!

As it is approaching my 21st birthday...wahooo! (I still feel like I'm 18 though!)...I thought I shall buy myself a funky and quite different dress to celebrate in. I searched the internet and came across a brand I had seen in alternative fashion stores before, but not really put much though into. The brand is called 'Hell Bunny'.

All their dresses looked so amazing! It's so hard to pick a favourite! But in the end it turned out that this is THE dress I shall be wearing on the night out...

So what do you think?! Quite funky isn't it!.....Very 'Alice in Wonderland(ish)' which ties in with the fact that the film has recently come out. (Going to watch it on Monday!)

I'm absolutely in love with this dress! It fits me perfectly I just wish the night I'm going out on would hurry up so I can wear it!

Let me know what you think of it! I bought this one from the 'Livin Loud' clothing website for only £24 something including postage! But it appears to have sold out? If you do a general Google search for 'Hell Bunny' I'm sure you can find this dress elsewhere, as well as it's other beautiful dress friends!

So go out there! Wear something different and funky! It's nice to have a change :)

My current high street favs!

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted for a while, but do not fear I haven't forgotten about you! I have been very very busy trying to finish off my dissertation which is due in in 3 weeks! Eeek!

So bare with my whilst it's being finished :)

I have scowered the internet to show you a few of my favourite things I have come across. Why oh why can't I have endless money and a never ending wardrobe to buy all the pretty things I want?! And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that! So here are my bargain buys, enjoy!

Think brown belt, brown sandals, aviator sunnies and a funky summer bag..yum yum! Casual chic! And this comfy yet summery dress is only £8 from Matalan. Bargain!

These stunning shoes have the perfect mix of sports luxe mesh, studding and lace up style! And for £30 from New Look they're not going to break the bank. (Remember you can get 10% off in New Look if you have a student card! Which means a £3 saving...that could go towards a nice new necklace?!)

How cute is this belt?! It's the perfect little bit of fun! Grab it now whilst it's only £5 in the Miss Selfridge sale! Here's the link so you can get yours!...

Now some of you know that boohoo.com name each of their products with girls names. So I searched my name 'Amanda' and discovered these beautiful shoes! A lovely girlie colour to pair with your pastels and take you into summer, but the studs give the shoe an edgy side. Love it! They're so affordable too at only £20! I think they would look great with some black lace to create a girlie yet grungy 'rock chick' look!

To finish off my array of beautiful yet affordable things is this lovely gold bangle by Red Herring. This £8 bracelet will go great with the tribal look that is back once again for the summer. Pair this with a colourful Maxi dress and your ready to rock!
I hope this list has inspired you with what bargains there are to be had on the British high street! So save those pennies and buy youself something lovely that won't break the bank!

Roll up! Roll up!...

As some of you know, I attended 'Cirque de la Mode' on Thursday night to see a fashion show of garments made by fashion students at an event created by fashion marketing students.

The venue was nice, modern and suited the circus theme quite well. The only downside to the venue is that it was a bit cramped compared to last year's event venue... (not that I'm biased or anything, because last year's event was produced by me and my colleagues from our year of Fashion Marketing!)... ;)

As I walked into the venue with my boyfriend's mum we headed to the bar first for a much needed drink!

The show was being held upstairs, so after that much needed drink we headed up there to see what was going on. The first thing the we came across was their 'Silent Auction' area, where they sell items made by the fashion students to raise extra money for their trip to Graduate Fashion Week. There were dresses, skirts, coats, bags...everything!

See that small fluffy bag on the model's hand?!....That now officially belongs to me!
It was what I treated myself to from the event! I love it! It shall be coming to a rave with me this friday!

The night was broken up by some 'swish' tricks to add a little more experience to the event and to go along with the circus theme.

The event was hosted by a circus ringmaster to keep everyone well informed with how the night will be run and what was coming up next...

Here are my images of some of the garments that could be seen on the night...

Aren't they beautiful garments?! I love the blue jacket with the brown waist belt! Very, very tempted to steal that idea!

Some lovely textures & detailing was displayed on the night, so it was lovely to see some very different designs!

Once the catwalk had finished there was a chance for attendees of the event to purchase the items they had seen on the night. All money raised from this was also going towards the Graduate Fashion Week fund for the fashion students.

The only downside was that there seemed to be a great deal less of garments to see this year compared to last year, not sure why that was, there could be a valid reason?! However, the night was still spectacular and it was visable that a lot of work had gone into the production of the garments and the night itself! The students should give themselves a pat on the back!

Hope you enjoyed looking through the images! Remember that this event is an annual event, so there will be one to look forward to next year in Northampton again. It is definately worth looking out for!

Ready to party!

Well I have my tickets...

I have my outfit...
I love bold styles and colours so I have gone for a sailor style with block colours..

Here is a close up of my necklace...

my boyfriend bought this necklace for me :)

My shoes......the ones I secretly hope are immortal as I love them so much!..

All I need to do now is sit and wait for tonight to come.....oh and decide on what jacket & bag to wear with this outfit!!! Decisions, decisions!

(Outfit - Dress: Peacocks, Necklace: also Peacocks, Shoes: New Look, Leggings: Not a clue!)

Tonight is set to be a great night! Fashion, models, local press, photographers, new faces in the design world, fire breathers, stilt walkers, drinks a plenty & a raffle to help raise extra funds for the University of Northampton's fashion students to go to Graduate Fashion Week! What a great cause to hold a night for!..

Introductory Post

Hello and welcome to my brand new fashion blog!

I will be blogging about all things fashion!

Read my 'About Me' page to find out more.

To kick off my blog I shall be attending The University of Northampton's fashion marketing students' annual fashion auction, which is being held tomorrow night at MoMo's bar in Northampton. Entry is £5 on the door if you wish to attend.

This event is created by 2nd year fashion marketing students to raise money for the fashion students to attend the graduate fashion week. The night will give people a chance to see the amazing work of the fashion students, purchase some of the items & to see how brilliantly the fashion marketing students can put an event together like this.

The night has been titled 'Cirque de la Mode' and assures attendees that it will be a brilliant night to be had by all. I can't wait to check it out!

I'm going to be taking some photographs at the event so I can put them up here on my blog for you all to see!

So wait patiently and anticipate the arrival of my review on this event!
